Pentecost Hospital - Tarkwa, located in the Western Region of Ghana, has evolved from its humble beginnings as a mobile clinic in 1984 into a fully-fledged primary hospital, serving over 47,000 people across 18 communities within the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality and its environs.
Historical Background
The hospital's journey began as The Church of Pentecost Clinic, operating as a mobile clinic with eight health workers serving the Wassa West District. Due to challenges such as low patronage and financial constraints, the clinic transitioned to a static health center in 2004, thanks to the efforts of the local church leadership and the Pentecost Social Services (PENTSOS). The facility gained accreditation as a hospital from the Health Facilities Regulatory Authority (HeFRA) in December 2019 and from the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) as a primary hospital in April 2021.
